Richard Eustaquio Mascarañas Granada (born September 14, 1979 in Tacuarembó ) is a Uruguayan cyclist .

Cycling career

Richard Mascarañas has been a cyclist in the elite category since 2003. Since then he has mainly competed in bike races in South America. His first success was a 2003 stage win in the Rutas de América . The following year he was successful on two stages of the Vuelta Ciclista del Uruguay . In 2007 he again decided in his favor a part of the Rutas de America and the Vuelta del Uruguay and was third overall in both races. In 2008 and 2010 he won the Vuelta del Uruguay again. In 2008 he became the Pan American road racing champion .

In 2015, Mascarañas won the Vuelta de Salta . In 2017 he was national road champion and in 2019 runner-up champion.

Awards

As part of the honors of the best Uruguayan athletes of the period 2009-2010 ( Deportista del Año ), Mascarañas was honored on March 28, 2011 by the Comité Olímpico Uruguayo in the Teatro Solís as the best cyclist of the years 2009 and 2010.
