Leonardo Fabio Duque (born April 10, 1980 in Cali , Valle del Cauca ) is a former Colombian - French cyclist . He was born a Colombian and also acquired French citizenship in July 2015 . 2016 started with a French license.
Career
Duque was three-time Colombian champion on the track in 2003 - in Madison , points race and scratch . In 2008 he won the track cycling world cup run in Cali the points race.
After winning two stages of the Vuelta a Guatemala on the road in 2003 and thus his first international competitions, he received his first contract with an international cycling team in 2004 , the Belgian Jartazi Granville Team, with which he stayed until the end of 2005. In autumn 2004 he also drove for Chocolade Jacques-Wincor Nixdorf as a stagiaire . He won a stage of the Tour de l'Ain in 2005 and won the one-day race Druivenkoers .
From 2006 to 2012 he drove with the ProTeam Cofidis and won the overall ranking of the Tour du Limousin in 2006. He achieved his greatest success on the 16th stage of the Vuelta a España 2007 as the sprint winner of a three-man breakaway group. This was followed by victories at a stage of the 2008 Mediterranean Tour and at the Grand Prix Cholet-Pays de la Loire .
2013 moved to the Colombian team Colombia . In the same year Duque celebrated successes at GP Beghelli and a stage win at Tour de l'Ain . In 2014 he won the sprint classification of the Tour of Trentino .
In 2016 he moved to Delko Marseille Provence KTM . In November 2016 he won the last stage of the Chinese stage race and thus the overall ranking of the Tour of Taihu Lake . He then announced his retirement from active cycling at the end of the season.
