Grand Prix Cholet-Pays de la Loire

The Grand Prix Cholet-Pays de la Loire , usually referred to as Cholet-Pays de la Loire for short , is a former French cycling race .

The one-day race , which usually has its date in mid-March and took place around the French town of Cholet in the Maine-et-Loire department , was first held in 1978. Until 1987 the race was called Grand Prix de Mauléon-Moulins , in 1988 and 1989 Grand Prix de Cholet-Mauléon-Moulins and since 1990 it has been called the current name. Since the introduction of the UCI Europe Tour in the 2005 season, the race has been part of this racing series and classified in the UCI category 1.1. The Grand Prix Cholet-Pays de la Loire was also part of the Coupe de France , a series of French one-day races. The record winner is Jaan Kirsipuu , who won the race three times.

Since 2004, the women's race Grand Prix Cholet-Pays de Loire Féminin has been held on the same day , which in 2011 was included in UCI category 1.2 of the international calendar. The race will not take place in 2017.
