Kim Andersen (cyclist)
Kim Andersen (born October 2, 1958 in Malling , Denmark ) is a Danish cycling manager and former cyclist . His active career spanned the years from 1980 to 1992.
Athletic career
Andersen became known as the first life-long banned doping offender in cycling. He tested positive at the Coppa Placci 1985, the Walloon Arrow 1986 (he finished second) and the Tour du Limousin 1987. However, the sentence was reduced to one year a year later. Another positive test in 1992 ended his driving career.
In his career he won three stages of the Tour de France and one of the Vuelta a España and finished three times the smaller Tour of Denmark as the overall winner.
Professional
He has been active as a sporting director in cycling since 1998 , including from 2004 to 2010 at Team Team Saxo Bank , where he was dismissed in June 2010 when it became known that he was helping to build a new racing team together with racing drivers Andy and Fränk Schleck Based in Luxembourg for the 2011 season. He has been in charge of the Trek-Segafredo team since 2011 .
