Brian Holm Sørensen (born October 2, 1962 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a retired cyclist and, after his active career, sports director of cycling teams .
Athletic career
Brian Holm turned pro in 1986 and drove for the Telekom team from 1993 to 1997 . At the Tour de France 1996 he was one of the helpers of his compatriot and team captain Bjarne Riis , who won this event. His greatest individual success was the victory at Paris – Brussels in 1991. He finished the Tour de France seven times, with his best place 60 in the 1990 Tour de France . As a professional driver, he was able to achieve 14 victories.
Two times - 1984 and 1996 - Holm competed on the track at the Olympic Games . In 1984 he reached fifth place with the Danish track four ( Dan Frost , Michael Marcussen and Jørgen V. Pedersen ).

After his active career, Holm was one of the sports directors of the Telekom team from February 2002 . and stayed with this team and its successor team, which last drove under the name HTC-Highroad and disbanded at the end of 2011.
In 2004 Holm was diagnosed with cancer but recovered. He wrote the book Smerten, Glæden about his time with the illness . Erindringer from et liv på cykel .
In the course of the series of confessions , Brian Holm was the sixth former Telekom driver to admit the use of doping substances to improve performance . He took EPO twice in 1996 , Holm confessed on May 24, 2007.
Holm has been sports director of the Omega Pharma-Quickstep team since 2012 . In 2014 he was charged with obscene acts in the presence of a child, but acquitted of the charge by a Danish court.
