Jairo Pérez
Jairo Alonso Pérez Suárez (born March 24, 1973 in Iza ) is a former Colombian track and road cyclist .
Career
Jairo Pérez began his career in 1996 with the Colombian cycling team Glacial-Selle Italia . The next year he moved to Lotería de Boyacà . He celebrated his first success in 1999 at the Clásico RCN with a stage win. The next year he drove for the Colombian-Italian team Aguardiente Néctar-Selle Italia . Here he won a section at the Vuelta al Táchira and two stages at the Vuelta a Colombia . In 2001 he won a stage at the Clásico RCN and at the Vuelta a Venezuela . He also won the second stage at the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides and was able to win the overall standings. This victory was later revoked because of the use of cocaine. The following year he won another stage in the Vuelta a Colombia.
2004 was the most successful year so far for Pérez. He won stages a total of seven stages at the Vuelta al Tolima, the Vuelta a Antioquia, the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides and the Vuelta a Costa Rica . In 2005 Pérez won a section at the Clásica del Meta, and in 2006 he was successful at a stage of the Vuelta al Valle del Cauca. In the 2007 season he won a stage at the Vuelta a la Independencia Nacional and was able to win the overall standings. He also won the fifth stage of the Vuelta a Colombia. On the track, he was the Pan American team pursuit champion . The next year he won a stage at the Vuelta al Tolima and two sections at the International Cycling Classic in the United States. In 2010 stage wins followed at the Doble Sucre Potosí Gran Premio and again the Tour of Colombia.
