Diego Fernando Salazar Quintero
Diego Fernando Salazar Quintero (born October 3, 1980 in Tuluá ( Valle del Cauca )) is a Colombian weightlifter .
Athletic career
Salazar celebrated his first success in 1999 when he took second place in the class up to 56 kilograms at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg . At that time he managed 255 kilograms. His most recent successes include the bronze medal won in 2006 at the World Weightlifting Championships in the class up to 62 kilograms for which he lifted 295 kilograms and his first place at the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro for which he lifted 290 kilograms .
Olympic games
When he first participated in the 2004 Olympics in Athens , he had to withdraw from the games due to an injury. Four years later at the Beijing Games , he managed to win a silver medal by lifting 305 kilograms. This was the first medal for Colombia at these games and overall the tenth Colombian teams at the Olympic Games.
