Dagua is a commune ( municipality ) in the department of Valle del Cauca in Colombia .

geography

Dagua is located in the Sur sub-region in Valle del Cauca at an altitude of 828 m above sea level. NN in the western cordillera of the Colombian Andes , 47 km from Cali on the Río Dagua and has an average annual temperature of 24 ° C. The municipality borders on Calima to the north, Restrepo , La Cumbre and Cali to the east, Cali to the south and Buenaventura to the west .

history

When the Spanish arrived, the region was from the indigenous people of Papagayeros inhabited. Today's Dagua was founded in 1909 when the area was opened up by the railroad.
