Caicedonia is a commune ( municipality ) in the department of Valle del Cauca in Colombia .

geography

Caicedonia is located in the Oriente sub-region in Valle del Cauca . The north of the municipality lies between the Río Pijao and Río Barragán at 1050 to 1200 meters. The center, the southwest and the southeast of the municipality are at 1200 to 1800 meters. In addition, there is a high mountain area in the central south of the municipality between 1800 and 2200 meters.

The municipality borders La Tebaida in the Departamento del Quindío in the north, Calarcá , Génova and Pijao in Quindío in the east, and Seville in the south and west .

The municipality of Caicedonia has 29,424 inhabitants, of which 24,489 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

history

When the Spaniards arrived, the indigenous people of the Pijaos lived in the area of ​​today's Caicedonia . Modern settlement only began from Antioquia at the beginning of the 20th century .

Infrastructure
