Roldanillo is a municipality ( municipality ) in the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca . There is the Rayo Art Museum here , which was founded by the painter Omar Rayo .

geography

Roldanillo is located in the Norte sub-region in Valle del Cauca at an altitude of 900 to 1000  m above sea level. NN in the valley of the Río Cauca and in the western cordillera of the Colombian Andes . The municipality borders on La Unión to the north, La Victoria and Zarzal to the east, Bolívar to the south and El Dovio to the west .

The municipality of Roldanillo has 32,035 inhabitants, of which 24,701 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

economy

The main industry of Roldanillo is agriculture . In particular, sugar cane , papaya , corn , coffee , passion fruit and vegetables are grown. There is also animal husbandry .

Sports

Roldanillo is one of the most famous paragliding areas in Colombia. In 2012 and 2017 the superfinal of the Paragliding World Cup was held in Roldanillo . In addition, Roldanillo hosted a World Cup in 2011.
