Corporación Club Deportivo Tuluá , called Cortuluá , is a Colombian football club from Tuluá , founded in 1967 , which currently plays in the Primera B category.

history

The club made it to the Categoría Primera A for the first time in 1993 . The first place in the Hinserie 2001 was so far the greatest success that qualified for participation in the Copa Libertadores 2002 . 2004, however, the club was relegated to the Categoría Primera B from. Cortuluá rose again to the first division in 2009, but was only able to hold out for a year and then played again in the second division. In the 2011 to 2013 seasons, the club was able to regularly qualify for the group stage, but without being able to reach a final. In both half-series of 2014, however, the club missed the entry into the final round and could not play for promotion.

As a traditional club, Cortuluá was given the opportunity in January 2015 to take part in a separate promotion round. There the club was able to prevail in its group and will therefore play in the first division again from 2015.

In the first season in the first division, the club landed in the middle of the table in both half-series and was thus able to successfully prevent direct relegation, but not play for a place in the final rounds.

In the first series of the 2016 season , Cortulá was able to reach the semi-finals, where it was eliminated against the eventual champions Independiente Medellín . In addition, the club provided the top scorer in Miguel Borja . In the back series, Cortuluá could not confirm this performance due to many departures of players and ended the season in the back of the table. Cortuluá couldn't make the 2017 Hinserie better and ended the league phase in last place in the table. Long-time coach Jaime de la Pava decided not to extend his contract, which is why Néstor Otero was signed as his successor in June 2017 . In the return streak, Cortuluá could not recover from the weak streak and relegated to the second division on the last day of the match due to a goal conceded in the last minute against Once Caldas .

As the new coach for the season 2018 was Álvaro Hernández presented. Cortuluá was able to qualify in fifth for the final round and only had to admit defeat to Cúcuta Deportivo as second in the group . In March 2019, Hernández resigned as a coach. The previous player Mayer Candelo became his successor . Candelo reached the final of Apertura 2019 with Cortuluá . The team lost in the final but on penalties against Deportivo Pereira .

Stadion

Cortuluá plays its home games at the Estadio Doce de Octubre in Tuluá . The stadium has a capacity of around 16,000 seats. For the 2017 season, the stadium no longer met the DIMAYOR requirements , so that Cortuluá had to move to other stadiums, especially to Cali . Cortuluá also had to evade in the first half of 2018 and played his home games in Palmira and Cali. For the 2018 return series, Cortuluá returned to Tuluá.
