History as a dépor

In the 2005 season, the club played its home games in Cartago . From 2006 to 2008 he played in Jamundí . The association has been based in Cali since 2009, until 2012 under the name Dépor Aguablanca .

The greatest success was reaching the group stage three times in 2007 and 2008. Since 2009, the club has not been able to complete a season among the top eight teams. In the Torneo Apertura 2014 , Dépor came in last. The second half of the season did not go much better either, so that the club also finished last in the 2014 table. The club was last in the 2015 season .

New start as Atlético FC

At the beginning of 2016, it faced legal disputes over the right to start in the second division, which Dépor FC had acquired from Real Sincelejo in 2005. There were irregularities on the part of one of the partners in Real Sincelejo, which is why the sale was considered invalid. The other shareholders of Real Sincelejo sold the club again in 2015 to Tolima Real , which Dépor FC disputed the right to start.

However, Dépor FC was supported by the other DIMAYOR clubs and was given the opportunity in March to make a fresh start under a new name as Atlético FC. However, the new name did not change the sporting performance, so that the club was last in 2016 .

In November 2016 it was announced that the new coach for the 2017 season was Andrés Sicachá , who had been coach at Atlético FC until May 2016 and then spent six months in Spain for training. However, Sicachá left the club before the start of the 2017 season to join the coaching team of Club Atlético Cerro from Uruguay as assistant to Diego Barragán . Instead, Luis Eduardo Gómez was committed. Apertura 2017 also ended Atlético FC last in the table. The Finalización 2017 was a bit more pleasant for Atlético FC and finished in eleventh place in the table.

For the 2018 season , Atlético FC signed former professional footballer Giovanni Hernández as the new coach . The club finished the season in 14th place. Atlético FC finished the 2019 row in penultimate place, which clearly missed out on the finals.

Stadion

Atlético FC plays its home games at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero . The stadium, which opened on July 20, 1937, has a capacity of 33,130 seats. In the 2015 Hinserie, the club played its home games at the Estadio Cacique de Jamundí , which was Dépor's home stadium between 2006 and 2008, due to renovations at the Pascual Guerrero stadium.
