Alexis Viera , full name Washington Alexis Viera Barreto , (born October 18, 1978 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.81 meter tall goalkeeper Viera was at the beginning of his career from 1998 to the end of 2002 in the ranks of the team of the Racing Club de Montevideo . He then belonged to the roster of River Plate Montevideo until the end of 2005 . With the Montevideans he ran in the mid-season 2005 and the Apertura 2005 across seasons in 29 games of the Primera División . In early 2006, Nacional Montevideo signed him . In the following seasons he completed a total of 53 first division games for the "Bolsos", with whom he was Uruguayan champions in the 2005/06 season. In mid-January 2009 he moved to América de Cali . For the Colombians, the Primera A was used in 25 clashes and scored one goal. In mid-August 2010 he joined Deportivo Ñublense . In the ranks of the Chileans , he played 62 games in the Primera División and three matches in the Copa Chile . In early January 2013, he returned to América de Cali. As part of this second engagement at the club from Cali , he was used in 80 games in Primera B and six games in the Copa Colombia . In the league, he met seven times as a goal scorer in appearance. Since mid-June 2015, he has continued his career at Atlético FC . There are five second division appearances for him. In August 2015, he was seriously injured by two gunshots as a victim of a robbery in Cali's Barrio El Caney . As a result of the injuries, he was partially paralyzed for a while. He then ended his active career. He has been an assistant coach at Atlético FC since April 2016.
