The Categoría Primera B 2019 , also called Torneo Águila after a sponsor , was the 28th season of Colombia's second division in men's football, which is hosted by the División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano (DIMAYOR).

The relegated teams from the 2018 Primera A category were Boyacá Chicó FC from Tunja and Leones FC from Itagüí .

The Hinserie could win Deportivo Pereira . Pereira was already known as the first promoted team when it qualified for the final of the back series as the best-placed team in the overall table. Pereira was also able to secure the championship by winning the return series. In the play-offs Boyacá Chicó was able to secure the second promotion place against Cortuluá.

mode

The mode has changed compared to the previous year. Two tournaments will be played again ( Apertura and Finalización ). In the league phase, all teams play against each other. The first eight teams qualify for the final round. The final round consists of a group stage with two groups of four teams each, who determine the two participants in the final in the first and second legs. The two finalists play the semi-series champions. At the end of the year, the two semi-series champions determine an overall champion who is promoted directly. The defeated finalist plays the second promoted team in another game against the top-ranked club in the overall table, if the latter is ahead of the defeated finalist in the overall table.
