↑ Categoría Primera A 2017 |
The Categoría Primera B 2017 , also called Torneo Águila after a sponsor , was the twenty-seventh season of Colombia's second division in men's football, which was hosted by the División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano (DIMAYOR).
The relegated from the Categoría Primera A 2016 were Boyacá Chicó FC and Fortaleza FC .
The winner of the Apertura was Boyacá Chicó. The finalización was won by Leones FC . Since Leones finished the overall table in first place, the club was already established as the first to be promoted before the final for the championship.
In the final of the championship Boyacá Chicó was able to prevail against Leones FC on penalties after both the first and second legs were drawn. Boyacá Chicó secured the second promotion place.
mode
The mode had changed compared to the previous year. The season was divided into two half-series, Apertura and Finalización . In both phases, all 16 teams played against each other in league mode, in addition there was a game day with Clásicos, on which games with a derby character were played. The first eight teams qualified for the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and finals. At the draw for the quarter-finals, the teams in places one to four were in the first lottery pot and were drawn to a team in places five to eight. In the final round, the team better placed in the overall table had home rights in the second leg. In the end, the two semi-series champions played a master who rose directly to the first division. The second climber should be determined between the defeated finalist and the best club in the overall table. Since the defeated finalist was also the winner of the overall table, he rose directly to the second team. In the event of a victory in both half-series, a club would have been established as promoted and champion. The second promoted team would have been determined in a game between the two next best-placed clubs in the overall table.

1 Due to renovation work on both stadiums in Barranquilla, Barranquilla FC played their home games at the club's training center in Malambo until mid-March.
2Due to conflicts between the club's management and the government of Norte de Santander, the club moved to Zipaquirá for the 2017 season. From the middle of the return series, the club returned to the Estadio General Santander after the conflict had been resolved.
3The home stadium of Unión Magdalena is originally the Estadio Eduardo Santos in Santa Marta, which could not be used for security reasons.
