Reinaldo Rueda (born April 16, 1957 in Cali ) is a Colombian football coach .

Career

Rueda, who speaks fluent German , completed a sports degree at the Cologne Sports University between 1990 and 1991 .

His first coaching station was from 1994 to 1997 Cortuluá . From July 1997 to June 1998 he was a coach at Deportivo Cali before he worked for Independiente Medellín in 2002 . He then coached the Colombian U-20 national team, with whom he won the bronze medal at the 2003 Junior World Cup in the United Arab Emirates . As head coach of Colombia , he took part in the 2004 Copa America , the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA and in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup. In 2007 Rueda took over the post of national coach in Honduras. With Honduras he qualified for the finals participation in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . From 2010 Rueda coached the Ecuadorian national team , which also took part in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil . After the World Cup tournament, the Ecuadorian Football Association announced the mutual separation. Rueda was head coach at the traditional Colombian club Atletico Nacional from Medellín. With Nacional, Rueda won the Copa Libertadores in 2016.

In August 2017, Rueda was signed by Flamengo Rio de Janeiro as a coach.

Just six months later it was announced that he will be the new national coach of Chile with immediate effect from January 2018 .
