Juan de Dios Castillo
Juan de Dios Castillo González (born January 31, 1951 in Mexico City , † May 1, 2014 in Monterrey , Nuevo León ) was a Mexican football player on the position of a striker and later coach .
Life
As a player, Castillo was for CF Monterrey , CF Pachuca , Club San Luis , Deportivo Toluca , Tampico-Madero FC , Atlético Español and Unión de Curtidores .
After his active career, Castillo was responsible for coaching various teams in Mexico and Honduras . In Mexico he coached, among other things, the Tampico-Madero FC, with whom he was relegated to the second division at the end of the 1994/95 season and later (1998 and 1999) the Club Santos Laguna . He was also responsible for the Mexican U-20 selection in 1992/93 .
Castillo celebrated his greatest successes in Honduras. He was Honduran football champions once with Real España (in Apertura 2003) and with Olimpia (in Clausura 2008) . He was also the coach of the Honduran national team in 2010 and 2011 , with which he won the 2011 Copa Centroamericana in January 2011 .
In the second half of 2012, Castillo, who died at the age of 63 from complications from skin cancer, was the head coach of the El Salvador national team .
