Real Club Deportivo España is a football club from San Pedro Sula in Honduras . The club currently plays in the country's first division, the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras .

El España, as the club is also called, is one of the most famous football clubs outside of Honduras.

history

Real España was founded on July 14, 1929 by Pastor Reyes, Juan Banegas, "Teco" Lardizábal, Hugo Escoto Soto and Leonardo Muñoz as Escuela Ramón Rosa, de San Pedro Sula.

The Spanish "Real" was awarded to the club in 1977 by King Juan Carlos I of Spain . This makes Real España the only club outside of Spain to have received the title "Real" from a Spanish king.
