Club Deportivo Marathón is a football club from San Pedro Sula , Honduras and plays in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras , the highest football league in the country.

history

Club Deportivo Marathón was founded on November 25, 1925 in San Pedro Sula by Eloy Montes and a group of friends. Since then, the club has won the championship six times.

Marathón is now one of the most renowned clubs in Honduras. Players like Maynor René Suazo or David Suazo played here in their youth.

Since 1925 there has been a rivalry with the Club Deportivo Olimpia , which is known as the Clasico Nacional (National Derby). This game also gives back the rivalry between the two largest cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

In the near future, Marathón will be the only club in Honduras with its own stadium. All other stadiums in the league are owned by the municipalities.
