Luciano Emilio (born December 12, 1978 in Ilha Solteira , São Paulo ) is a Brazilian football player .

Career

Earlier years

In 1995 he played for the Brazilian third division club XV de Piracicaba. At the age of 16 Emilio made his first experiences in professional football there. The next season he moved to Rio Branco.

In 1997 he moved to 1. FC Köln. Initially he played for the club's youth team. Then he made the jump to the professional squad.

After he could not prevail with the billy goats, he switched to Alemannia Aachen , where he was able to book 24 appearances in one season. After only one season he left Aachen and moved to the upper division FC Remscheid , where he scored 3 goals in 23 appearances. Nevertheless, he said goodbye to Remscheid after only one season and went back to his home country and played for the current third division club União Barbarense .

Honduras and Mexico

Emilio then moved to Honduras , where he played for Real España and CD Olimpia . He then played in Mexico for Querétaro FC . In 2005 he moved back to Olimpia.

Major League Soccer

From 2007 he played in the American Major League Soccer at DC United in Washington, DC At the end of his first season in the United States, he won the MLS Supporter's Shield with the team . He was the top scorer in the regular season with 20 goals and received the MLS Golden Boot for it, and was also voted Best Player of the 2007 Season.

Emilio received a US green card in August 2009. So he no longer falls under the foreigner rule of the MLS. At the end of 2009, Luciano Emilio refused to sign a new contract with which he would have received significantly less salary than before. A little later he moved back to his previous club Rio Branco EC. In April 2010, he signed a three-month deal with DC United and returned to Washington. After the three months, he was not offered another contract. During that time, played 4 times for DC in the MLS and scored one goal in the US Open Cup.

He then moved to Danubio FC in Uruguay. For the Montevideans he played six first division games and scored one goal. He then moved to Atlante UTN in the second Mexican division in early January 2011 .

After further stations, Emilio has been playing with Grêmio Catanduvense in his native Brazil since 2013.
