Bradley Edward Wright-Phillips (born March 12, 1985 in Lewisham , London ) is an English football player who is currently under contract with the New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer .

Career

After graduating from Manchester City's youth academy, Wright-Phillips made his first positive appearance in the 2003-04 season when he was the top scorer for the club's reserve team, which promoted him to the professional squad for the following season. He also played for the England U19 national team.

In the 2004/05 season he made his debut in September 2004 for the professional team as a substitute in the 7-1 win in the Carling Cup game against FC Barnsley . A short time later he also made his debut in the Premier League. During the game against Middlesbrough FC in December 2004, he also scored his first goal, again as a substitute. Subsequently, he was able to steadily play his way into the starting line-up and played a total of 17 games.

A knee injury prevented a continuation of the positive trend at the beginning of the 2005/06 season and meant that Wright-Phillips only came to a few short appearances. His contract with Manchester City originally ran until the end of the 2008/09 season, but after a performance stagnation, he was sold to Southampton FC for an unspecified transfer fee to the second division.

Since July 2009 he was under contract with the English third division side Plymouth Argyle and moved to league rivals Charlton Athletic on January 24, 2011 .
