Rio Branco Esporte Clube , often referred to as Rio Branco EC or RBEC for short , also Rio Brance de Americana , is a Brazilian football club from the city of Americana in the state of São Paulo . He is currently represented in the Série A2 , the second division of the Campeonato Paulista .

history

On August 4, 1913, the club was founded as Sport Club Arromba and renamed the Rio Branco Football Club in 1917 , based on the Brazilian politician José Maria da Silva Paranhos Júnior, the Baron of Rio Branco. In 1922 and 1923 the Campeonato Paulista do Interior was won . In the 1940s, however, the game operation of the football department was stopped.

In 1961 the club's name was translated into Portuguese and the club was now called Rio Branco Futebol Clube . In April 1979, Rio Branco and another local team merged to form the Americana Esporte Clube and the football division was reactivated. In 1990 the club won the Campeonato Paulista (second division) and played first class in the following season. In 1993 the club reached a 6th place. 2001 you could again be sixth and almost reached the semifinals. A year later, the club even came third. In February 2011, the squad, consisting largely of experienced former first division professionals, was supplemented with the former top scorer in the German Bundesliga, Aílton .

The club currently plays its home games at the Estádio Décio Vitta , which has a capacity of 16,000 spectators. The official club colors are white and black. The home shirt is white, the shorts and socks are black. The club anthem was composed by Cleber Corradi. The club's mascot is a tiger wearing the home jersey. The club's nickname is "O Tigre".
