Flávio da Conceição (born June 12, 1974 in Santa Maria da Serra , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian soccer player.
Flávio Conceição, who played in defensive midfield, began his professional career in 1992 with the Brazilian club Rio Branco, where he stayed for one season before moving to Palmeiras São Paulo . At Palmeiras, Conceição won two championships (1993, 1994) and remained under contract until the summer of 1996. After 100 first division games for Palmeiras (four goals) Conceição moved abroad to Deportivo La Coruña in Spain for a transfer fee of 6.3 million euros, where he won the championship for the first time in 2000. In the same year Conceição moved to the top club Real Madrid for € 25,000,000, where he should have the most successful phase of his career. In addition to two championships and a Spanish Supercup, he won the UEFA Champions League , the European Supercup and the World Cup in 2002. In 2003 Conceição moved to the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund . After a season with only 14 appearances and mixed performances, Conceição moved to Turkey to Galatasaray Istanbul , where he won the trophy in 2005. In August 2005 Conceição signed a two-year contract with Panathinaikos Athens , which was terminated by mutual agreement in January 2006 due to poor performance.
