Mineiro , real name Carlos Luciano da Silva (born August 2, 1975 in Porto Alegre ), is a former Brazilian soccer player . His preferred position was the defensive midfield.
Career
society
Mineiro began his career at Rio Branco EC in Americana (São Paulo) , where he was part of the professional squad from 1994. In July 1997 he moved to Campinas for Guarani FC , but left the club again after only six months and from now on played for AA Ponte Preta in the same city. After four years he moved in January 2003 to the São Paulo suburban club AD São Caetano , with which he won the 2004 São Paulo state championship . From January 2005 he played for São Paulo FC , with whom he again won the São Paulo State Cup, the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup in 2005. At the Club World Cup, he scored the 1-0 goal in the final against Liverpool . In the 2006 season he won the Brazilian championship with São Paulo FC .
On January 31, 2007 he moved to Hertha BSC , where he made his Bundesliga debut on February 3, 2007 against Hamburger SV . He was substituted on and scored the winning goal for Hertha a few seconds before the end. After his contract with Hertha expired, he was initially without a club until the end of September 2008, but then signed a one-year contract with Chelsea . He won the FA Cup with Chelsea in the 2008/09 season .
In August 2009, FC Schalke 04 announced the commitment of the Brazilian. Mineiro received a one-year contract with the "miners", which was not extended after it expired. In November 2010 Mineiro kept fit with the regional division CSV SF Bochum-Linden.
At the end of August 2011 Mineiro presented himself in trial training at regional division TuS Koblenz and was signed for the remainder of the 2011/12 season. First, Mineiro should also be in the squad of TuS Koblenz for the 2012/2013 season and be available as a supplementary player. But since Mineiro wanted to concentrate more on his newly founded consulting agency, it was decided to remove Mineiro from the roster and not sign a new contract.
Towards the end of the 2013/14 season he played again briefly in the Westphalia League at TSV Marl-Hüls .
National team
Mineiro made his debut on April 25, 2001 in the game against Peru in the Brazilian national football team . He was part of the Brazilian squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, but was not used there. He was nominated to replace the injured Edmílson . In the summer of 2007 he won the Copa America with Brazil . There he was on the starting line-up for every game.
Private
Mineiro has been the owner of a consulting agency for athletes from South America since 2012. He particularly looks after footballers on their way to Europe.
