Rodolfo Orlando Orlandini (born 1905 in Buenos Aires , Argentina , † December 24, 1990 ) was an Argentine football player and coach .

society

The midfielder first played in Argentina for Sportivo Buenos Aires and Estudantil Porteño . In 1930 he moved to Italy to the CFC Genoa . Here he played for six years before joining the French club OGC Nice in 1936 , for which he was active until 1938.

National team

Orlandini was also a member of the national team of his home country and took part with her both in the 1928 Summer Olympics and in the first football World Cup in 1930 . He won the silver medal at the Olympic Games with his teammates and the World Cup tournament was also finished in second place after the final defeat against neighboring Uruguay. The tournament for the Campeonato Sudamericano in 1929 was more successful for him . Here, too, he was part of the Argentine squad and was part of the team that ultimately won the title. In total, he completed 10 international matches, in which, however, he did not score a goal.

Coaching

After his active career, he also worked as a coach and in this role, among other things, looked after the Colombian national team during the qualification phase for the 1962 World Cup. Before that, he had coached the national teams of Ecuador (1945) and El Salvador (1949–1951).
