Francisco "Cobo" Zuluaga Rodríguez (born February 4, 1929 in Medellín , Colombia , † November 8, 1993 ) was a Colombian football player and coach .

Zuluaga, the center-back who is distinguished by his speed, altruism and community spirit, played in the club at the time of the high phase of Colombian club football known as El Dorado for the Colombian club CD Los Millonarios . There he made his debut in 1948, the year professional football emerged in Colombia. In the following years he played alongside Alfredo Di Stéfano , Gabriel Ochoa Uribe , Julio Cozzi and Adolfo Pedernera and became Colombian champion in 1949. His team repeated this success from 1951 to 1953, so that three more championship titles let Zuluaga's track record grow. In 1953, his club also prevailed with two final victories against the Boca Juniors in the final of the Copa Colombia . In addition, the Millonarios won the Pequeña Copa del Mundo de Clubes , called Small Club World Cup , in which Rapid Vienna , Español Barcelona and River Plate took part. In addition to another victory at the Copa Colombia 1956, when they prevailed in the finals against Independiente Medellín and Pereira , the championships in 1959 and 1961 followed. With these six Colombian championship titles won, he is the captain and only Colombian regular player of the so-called Ballet Azul accruing Zuluaga the most successful player in this regard. In 1956 he also briefly helped out in the ranks of the Argentine club CA Huracán when it was on a tour of Colombia. After Zuluaga had remained loyal to the Millonarios for almost a decade and a half and rose to the club's record player with 494 completed games, he moved to Independiente Santa Fe in 1962 . He finally ended his career in 1966. At that time he was under contract with Atlético Nacional .
National team
He took part with the Colombian national team in the 1962 World Cup as their captain. There he scored Colombia's first goal in World Cup history in the game against Uruguay's national team, which was to remain the only one at this 1962 tournament. He was also a member of Colombia's squad at the 1957 Copa América in Peru.

Trainer
After his career he also worked as a trainer. At first as assistant coach Nestor Raul Rossis , who was previously also one of his teammates, worked for the Millonarios, he held the head coach function from 1968 to 1969. In this role, he also oversaw the selection of his home country for World Cup qualification from 1968 to 1969. He then also took on engagements at his previous clubs Atlético Nacional and Huracan.
