Pedro García Barros (born April 3, 1946 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean football player who mainly played in midfield and worked as a coach for a long time after his active career .
career
As a player
García began his professional football career in 1965 with the CD Green Cross . A year later he moved to his longest station Unión Española , where he was under contract for the next five years. He then moved to the record champions CSD Colo-Colo , with whom he won the Chilean football championship in 1972 . About his next station CD O'Higgins he came to Mexico in 1973 to the UNAM Pumas , his only foreign station as a player, before he let his active career end again at home with Deportes La Serena .
As a trainer
After García worked for the Chilean U-20 team as well as Unión Española and Deportes Arica in the late 1970s , he came across Deportes Concepción , where he was under contract in 1980, to CSD Colo-Colo . He was responsible for the Chilean record champions for five years and won the Chilean soccer championship twice and the Chilean cup competition three times .
As before as a player, García also worked as a coach in Mexico, where he was responsible for the clubs Club León , Puebla FC , CF Monterrey , Atlas Guadalajara and Santos Laguna between 1987 and 1994 . After this time García only worked sporadically as a coach and was among other things in 2001 for the Chilean national football team in action.
