The Categoría Primera A 1958 was the eleventh edition of the Colombian football championship . Santa Fe won the championship for the second time ahead of Millonarios . The top scorer was the Argentine José Américo Montanini from Atlético Bucaramanga with 36 goals.

The number of participants fell from twelve to ten teams. The reigning champion, Independiente Medellín , did not participate due to financial difficulties. Local rivals Atlético Nacional were also almost unable to take part, but managed to raise enough money in time. Participation was also secured through a cooperation with Independiente Medellín, which loaned five players to Nacional, which is why the club participated as Independiente Nacional . In addition, Unión Magdalena did not take part and Boca Juniors de Cali disappeared . After a four-year absence, Atlético Manizales returned.
