The Departamento del Quindío is Colombia's smallest province in terms of area . It is surrounded by Risaralda in the north, Tolima in the east and Valle del Cauca in the west.
The agriculture with the cultures of coffee , bananas , yucca and potatoes and cattle breeding of pigs and cattle are the economic pillars of the densely populated province. The industrial activities are limited to the food and beverage industry as well as textile production and leather processing.
Administrative division
The Departamento del Quindío consists of twelve municipalities. The population figures are based on the 2005 DANE census and extrapolated for 2018.
