Location of Cauca in Colombia

The Departamento del Cauca is a province in southwest Colombia . Cauca, which borders the Pacific in the west, includes the islands of Gorgona (approx. 50 km west of the coast) and Malpelo (approx. 450 km west of the coast). The province shares its wider borders in the north with the Departamentos de Valle del Cauca and Tolima , in the east with Huila and Caquetá and in the south with Putumayo and Nariño .
