Location of Arauca in Colombia

The Departamento de Arauca is a province in eastern Colombia .

It borders Venezuela to the north and east and the provinces of Vichada and Casanare to the south ; to the west is Boyacá .

The production of oil (30% of Colombia) and extensive cattle farming are the most important industries. The underdeveloped agriculture relies on corn , cocoa , yuca and beans . To continue fishing and logging an important role.

The Sierra Nevada del Cocuy is worth seeing .

The Departamento de Arauca consists of seven municipalities. The population figures are based on the DANE 2005 census , extrapolated for 2018.
