The Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística , ( German  National Administrative Department for Statistics ), DANE for short , is the state statistical office of the country of Colombia . The institution in Bogotá was founded as an independent body in 1951 and was given the name that is still valid today in 1953. In 1999 the Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi , which is responsible for drawing up official maps and drawing up the national cadastre , was affiliated to DANE .

Tasks and effects

The DANE is responsible for the planning, analysis, evaluation, implementation and dissemination of the official socio-economic statistics of Colombia for the generation and communication of statistical information at the national level, which comply with international standards and use innovation and technologies for the understanding and solution of the social, economic and to support the country's ecological problems.
