Córdoba is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Quindío in Colombia's coffee-growing region (eje cafetero) .

geography

Cordoba lies at an altitude of around 1700  m above sea level. NN 27 km south of Armenia and has an average annual temperature of 19 ° C. Cordoba borders on Calarcá to the north, Pijao to the south, Cajamarca in the Tolima department to the east and Buenavista to the west .

population

The municipality of Córdoba has 5249 inhabitants, of whom 3001 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

history

The region was settled from Antioquia from the 19th century . Cordoba was founded in 1912 and received municipality status in 1967.

economy

The main economic sectors in Cordoba are agriculture , especially the cultivation of coffee , but also of bananas , and cattle production .
