Buena Vista is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Quindío in Colombia's coffee-growing region (eje cafetero) . Buenavista is the smallest municipality in Quindíos.

Buenavista lies at an altitude of approximately 1477  m above sea level. NN 33 km south of Armenia and has an average annual temperature of 20 ° C. Buenavista borders Calarcá to the north and west , Pijao to the south and Córdoba to the east .

population

The municipality of Buenavista has 2730 inhabitants, of which 1183 live in the urban part (cabecera municipal) of the municipality (as of 2019).

history

The region was settled from Antioquia from the 19th century . The place was not founded as El Tolrá until 1928 and received the status of a municipality as Buenavista in 1966.

economy

The main industry of Buenavista is agriculture, especially the cultivation of coffee . In addition, bananas , cassava , tomatoes and citrus plants grown. Cattle and pig production also play an important role .
