The Categoría Primera A 1952 was the fifth edition of the Colombian football championship . The championship was able to defend the top team Millonarios before Boca Juniors de Cali and won the title for the third time. The top scorer was again the Argentinian Alfredo di Stéfano von Millonarios with 19 goals.

The number of participants fell from 18 to 15 teams. 1951 began the crisis of many teams, which either suspended temporarily or disappeared completely. Huracán and Independiente Medellín no longer participated. Independiente Medellín returned in 1954, Huracán disappeared completely. Deportes Caldas and Once Deportivo merged to form Deportivo Manizales, a new predecessor of Once Caldas .
