The Categoría Primera A 1957 was the tenth edition of the Colombian football championship . Independiente Medellín won the championship for the second time . Deportes Tolima was runner-up . The top scorer was the Argentinean José Vicente Grecco from Independiente Medellín with 30 goals. The season began on March 31, 1957 and ended on March 30, 1958.

Twelve teams took part, the same from the previous year. Only Libertad disappeared after just one season.

The 1957 championship was one of the longest in the history of Colombian football. Initially, all teams played against each other in home and return matches. This league phase was able to win Independiente Medellín. Then the best eight teams should play a second round. However, this was canceled after three match days because the other teams protested. Then two groups of six were drawn, the two winners of which, Cúcuta Deportivo and Deportes Tolima, played a final. The winner of this final, Cúcuta Deportivo, played the champion against Independiente Medellín. Curiously, Cúcuta was not runner-up, but had to play the runner-up against Tolima and lost. Thus Deportes Tolima finished second without having played the final.
