Deportes Tolima is a Colombian football club from Ibagué in the Tolima Department, founded in 1954 .
history
The championships of 2003, when Deportes Tolima won the Finalización , and 2018, when they won the Apertura, were the greatest successes in the club's history so far.
2010 Deportes Tolima reached the runner-up championship for the fifth time and also reached first place in the table of the Reclasificación , which includes all the games of the year. In the Hinserie 2014, however, the club found itself at the bottom of the table. The return series went better, however, and the club moved into the final round as seventh in the table.
In November 2014, Deportes Tolima was able to achieve the second title in the club's history. In the final of the cup competition , the club narrowly prevailed against Independiente Santa Fe after home and return matches .
In the 2016 season , Tolima was particularly successful in the back series and became runner-up. However, after the season, the successful coach Alberto Gamero left the club for junior . For him, the Uruguayan Gregorio Pérez was committed. However, Pérez was fired in February 2017 due to disagreements with the club's president. As his successor, Óscar Héctor Quintabani was signed, but he was replaced by José Eugenio Hernández in June . In August 2017, the former successful coach Alberto Gamero was signed again, replacing José Hernández. Under Gamero, Tolima played a successful back series, in which the final round was initially achieved with a fifth place in the league phase. There Tolima was eliminated only in the semifinals against Independiente Santa Fe after the reigning champions Atlético Nacional had been defeated in the quarterfinals .
In the Apertura 2018 , Deportes Tolima was able to win the second Colombian championship title after 2003. After the league phase was completed in third place, Tolima first prevailed in the quarter-finals against Once Caldas and then in the semi-finals on penalties against Independiente Medellín . In the final, despite a defeat in the first leg at home in the second leg, the club was able to prevail again on penalties against record champions Atlético Nacional . The league phase of the Finalización finished Tolima in first place, in the final round the club reached the semifinals.
In the Copa Libertadores 2019 Tolima did not get beyond the group stage, but qualified third behind Boca Juniors and Athletico Paranaense for the 2nd round of the Copa Sudamericana 2019 , in which the club was eliminated by Argentinos Juniors . The league phase of Apertura 2019 ended Tolima in third place. In the final round, the club did not move into the final only because of the poorer goal difference.
Stadion
Deportes Tolima plays its home games at the Estadio Manuel Murillo Toro . The stadium was inaugurated on July 20, 1955 and has a capacity of around 30,000 seats.
