Copa Conmebol 1997
The 1997 Copa Conmebol was the sixth draw of the South American club soccer competition , which was comparable to the European UEFA Cup . For the first time, 18 teams took part, so a qualifying round was required. The Brazilian representative Atlético Mineiro won the final against last year's finalist CA Lanús from Argentina and thus his second title in the competition.
The top scorer was the Brazilian Valdir from the winner Atlético Mineiro with seven goals.
