The Club Atlético Lanús is an Argentine football club from Lanús , an industrial suburb of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires Province , in the La Liga plays (first Argentine league).
history
In 1978 the club reached its greatest financial crisis with a mountain of debt of around two million US dollars. Lanús was only able to recover financially thanks to the enormous fan support. Within three years from 1978 to 1981 the number of members rose from 2,000 to 10,000. With the victory of the Copa Conmebol in 1996 Lanús reached under coach Héctor Cúper for the first time a significant title win. In 2007 the club won the Argentine championship for the first time in club history. The success was guaranteed by striker José Sand , who scored as many goals in 15 league games.
From the 2008/09 season, the team was trained by Luis Zubeldía , who was only born in 1981. Zubeldía had to end his own professional career at Lanús because of an inflammation of the knee in 2004.
In the 2013 season, the Copa Sudamericana could be won, so that one was qualified for the Recopa Sudamericana 2014.
