José Gustavo Sand (born July 17, 1980 in Bella Vista , Corrientes ) is an Argentine football player . He currently plays for the Colombian first division side Deportivo Cali in the Categoría Primera A .

Club career

José Sand played in his youth for the Argentine record champions CA River Plate . In 1999 he moved to CA Colón , but was only used sporadically, which is why he went to the then second division team Independiente Rivadavia a year later. At this club he stayed even shorter. After six months, Sand moved to the EC Vitória in Brazil . A year later he returned to his home country Argentina to Defensores de Belgrano. In 2004, the now 23-year-old striker moved back to his youth club CA River Plate and was able to prove himself as a regular player for the first time. After a year and a half he then went to league rivals CA Banfield , where he played again for only one year and then moved back to CA Colón, for whom he had already played at the beginning of his career. He has been playing for CA Lanús since 2007, with whom he won the Primera División Apertura in 2007 . With his 15 goals this season in 16 games, he was instrumental in this success. In total, José Sand would score 50 goals in 67 games for Lanús before moving to the United Arab Emirates in 2009. After various changes within Argentina, Sand joined the Colombian club Deportivo Cali in January 2018 .

National team

On October 15, 2008, he was appointed to the Argentine national football team for the first time due to his excellent performance at Lanús and also as a replacement for the suspended Carlos Tévez .
