Pablo Daniel Osvaldo , also known as Pablo Osvaldo , Daniel Osvaldo or Dani Osvaldo (born January 12, 1986 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Italian - Argentine soccer player .

Career

society

Osvaldo made his professional debut in the Argentine second division for Club Atlético Huracán in 2005 . After less than a year, he moved to the Italian second division club Atalanta Bergamo in 2006 , but only made three appearances for the club in the 2005/06 season . For the new season Atalanta agreed to co-ownership with US Lecce and Osvaldo played the 2006/07 season for the southern Italian club. At Lecce he was used regularly and scored eight goals in 31 games. At the end of the season, Bergamo bought back the complete transfer rights to Osvaldo and then sold the player to Fiorentina . On his debut in the top Italian division , he scored twice in a 3-0 win over Livorno. Internationally, he played eight UEFA Cup matches for Florence this season , but was not used when he was eliminated in the semi-finals against Glasgow Rangers .

Osvaldo scored his most important goal so far on the last matchday of the 2007/08 season in the 76th minute against Turin with an overhead kick to the 1-0 winner; he secured his club participation in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League .

In the 2008/09 season Osvaldo came after the commitment of Alberto Gilardino in Florence often only as a substitute for use and scored no goal. Therefore, in January 2009, he moved to league rivals FC Bologna for seven million euros . In January 2010 he was loaned to the Spanish club Espanyol Barcelona . The following summer, an agreement was reached on converting the loan agreement into a permanent obligation for the attacker. He signed a five-year contract and scored 21 competitive goals in one and a half seasons.

In the summer break of 2011 Osvaldo moved to AS Roma . After two successful seasons in which Osvaldo scored a total of 28 goals, AS Roma announced on August 18, 2013 that Osvaldo had moved to Southampton FC for 15.1 million euros . In the Premier League , however, the striker could not prevail and on January 31, 2014 he went on loan to the Italian record champions Juventus Turin , with whom he celebrated the Italian championship, but only contributed one league goal until the end of the season .

For the 2014/15 season , Osvaldo was loaned to Inter Milan . In return, Saphir Taïder - also on loan - moved to Southampton. After 12 league appearances in which Osvaldo scored five goals, the loan with Inter Milan was ended and Osvaldo was loaned to Boca Juniors until June 30, 2015 . This change was preceded by a dispute with Inter coach Roberto Mancini and teammate Mauro Icardi , on which Osvaldo was suspended by Inter. For the Boca Juniors, he played eleven top division games and scored three goals. He was also used four times (three goals) in the Copa Libertadores 2015 and once (one goal) in the Copa Argentina .

After his contract with Southampton ended and he was initially a "free" player, he signed at the end of July 2015 - apparently for tax reasons - with the Uruguayan first division club Sud América , and then at the beginning of August 2015 he signed on with the Portuguese club FC Porto .

He played seven league games (one goal) for the Portuguese and was featured three times in the Champions League and once in the national cup competition. In January 2016 he returned to the Boca Juniors and played three league games, one game in the Copa Libertadores 2016 and one Supercup game until May 2016 - each without a personal goal .

After being out of a club for four months, Osvaldo ended his career in September 2016 at the age of 30.

National team

In November 2007, Osvaldo, who has both Italian and Argentine citizenship, accepted an invitation from Pierluigi Casiraghi to join the Italian U-21 national team . In the final of the 2008 Toulon tournament , he scored the only goal for Italy's U-21s in defeating Chile .

On October 11, 2011 Osvaldo made his debut under Cesare Prandelli in the Italian senior team in the game against Northern Ireland (3-0). As a result, Osvaldo was a regular member of the national team and was often used, but was not nominated for the 2012 European Championship . On September 7, 2012 he got both goals for the Squadra Azzurra in the 2-2 draw against Bulgaria . Osvaldo continued to play test and qualifying matches, but was also nominated for the 2013 Confed Cup . On March 5, 2014 against Spain , Osvaldo played for Italy for the last time. He played a total of 14 games and scored four goals.
