Simione Tamanisau (born June 5, 1982 in Naisaumua ) is a Fijian soccer player.
Tamanisau became known in the media in October 2007 when the New Zealand government denied him an entry visa for the New Zealand World Cup qualifier against Fiji, after which FIFA canceled the game. The police officer was refused a visa because Tamanisau's father-in-law is a member of the Fijian military regime. New Zealand refused entry to regime family members. It was originally planned to postpone the international match on November 19, 2008 in a neutral place in Apia (Western Samoa), but it was then played in Lautoka (Fiji).
Tamanisau was the goalkeeper of the Fiji Olympic team at the 2016 Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro . He conceded a total of 23 goals in three games and was in goal at 0:10 against Germany in one of the biggest defeats in Olympic football. Nevertheless, Tamanisau was able to excel here when he saved a self-inflicted penalty from Max Meyer .
