Almir de Souza Fraga , better known as Almir , (born March 26, 1969 in Porto Alegre ) is a former Brazilian football player.

Career

1989 to 1993

The 1.75 meter tall striker began his career in 1989 in his hometown with Gremio Porto Alegre , where he played nine league games for two years. After two years at the club, Almir moved to FC Santos , where he was under contract for four years. In his first year he played 19 league games in which he scored four goals. In 1991 he was used in 17 league games, twice he was able to score a goal. In 1992 Almir completed 24 league games and scored three goals. In his last season he played 14 league games and was able to carry four balls into goal. During the four years Almir was in 74 league games on the field and was able to show 13 goals in the end.

1994 to 1996

After five years in Brazil, he moved to the Japanese club Shonan Bellmare , where he was under contract for three years. In his first year he made 38 league games and scored seven goals. He played 21 league games in 1995, in which he was able to get the ball into goal eight times. In his senior year, Almir appeared on the field nine times and scored two goals. In 1995, Almir was loaned to São Paulo FC , played 16 league games and scored six goals.

1996 to 2000

In 1997 he signed a one-year contract with Atlético Mineiro , this year the striker made 24 league games and scored four times. After the year moved to Palmeiras São Paulo , where Almir was only in the squad for one season. During the season he played 15 league games, but remained goalless for Palmeiras. In 1999 he moved to SC Internacional , where he played 13 league games that year and scored one goal. In the 1999/00 season he ventured for the first time to Europe and signed a contract with the Turkish club Gaziantepspor , where he played 14 league games and scored twice.

2000 to 2004

After the year in Turkey he returned to Brazil and signed a contract with Sport Recife , in which he completed 19 league games without scoring. In 2001 he moved to AD São Caetano , where he was used in six goalless games for him. For the 2001/02 season Almir moved to the Mexican club CF La Piedad . There he completed 16 league games and scored five goals. After the season in La Piedad, he moved to Querétaro FC , where he played 18 league games and scored two goals. In the 2003/04 season he was under contract with league rivals Atlas Guadalajara .

2004 to 2008

In 2004 Almir moved to the Mexican club Lobos de la BUAP . After a year in Mexico and three years in Italy, he returned to his native Brazil and signed a contract with SC Ulbra Ji-Paraná . From 2006 to 2008 he was under contract with Porto Alegre FC . In his senior year he was under contract with Mogi Mirim EC and ended his career after the year.

National team

From 1990 to 1993, Almir played five goalless senior international matches for the Brazilian national soccer team .
