Marques Batista de Abreu (born March 12, 1973 in Guarulhos ) is a former Brazilian football player.
Career
Corinthians São Paulo (1992 to 1995)
Marques began his career in 1992 in the youth of Corinthians São Paulo . A year later he was raised to the professional squad and made his league debut that same year. He had his breakthrough with the Corinthians in the 1994 season, scoring eight goals in 26 games. Last year he was only used in nine league games, and he scored one goal. In the three seasons Marques completed 36 league appearances in which he was able to score nine goals.
Other Brazilian clubs (1996 to 2003)
In 1996 Marques signed a one-season contract with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , in which he scored four goals in 19 games. The following year, a six-year contract with Atlético Mineiro came about, where he played 25 league games and scored six goals in his debut season. In 1998 he played 21 league games and scored eight goals. In 1999, as in 1998, he was able to show 21 league games, but he only scored five goals compared to the previous year. The next three seasons were relatively similar for Marques, only striking is his comparatively high hit rate in his penultimate season for Atlético Mineiro. In 24 league games he was successful a total of 15 times, with this performance he finished fifth in the scorers' list in the final accounts. After his time at Mineiro came to an end after the 2002 season, Marques had completed a total of 130 league games and scored 46 goals. In the 2003 season he was active for CR Vasco da Gama (11 games / 1 goal).
Nagoya Grampus (2003 to 2004)
After nine years in Brazil , he moved to Japan for the Nagoya Grampus club , where he played 19 league games that same year and scored five goals. In the following season he completed 29 league games and scored 17 goals. In his senior year, Marques played eleven league games and scored three goals. During the three years he completed 59 league games and could have 25 goals in the end. He also played a game in the Kaiser Cup in 2003 and 2004 , where he also scored once in 2004. Marques has another remarkable statistic to show in three seasons of the J. League Cup (14 games / 7 goals).
Remaining career
In 2005 he returned for the second time to Atlético Mineiro , where he played 30 league games that year and scored ten goals. After the year in Brazil he returned to Japan and played for the club Yokohama F. Marinos . At Yokohama he was under contract for two years. In his first year he played 19 league games and scored twice in goal. In 2007 he came under contract in twelve league games, but failed to score. After 31 league games and two goals, Marques finally left the club. He also played four games in the Kaiser Cup , in 2007 he scored one goal there. He was also used in the J. League Cup in the two years (5 games / 1 goal).
After two years, he returned to Atlético Mineiro for the third time in 2008, where he appeared in 21 league games in his first season and scored four goals. In 2009 and 2010 he only made two league appearances before ending his active career.
He was under contract with various Brazilian clubs for 14 years, played 249 league games and scored 74 goals. In Japan, Marques made 90 league appearances in four years and scored 27 goals.
He also took part in 13 international matches for the Brazilian national football team between 1994 and 2002 , scoring four goals.
