The Categoría Primera A 1965 was the eighteenth edition of the Colombian football championship . The championship was able to win Deportivo Cali for the first time before Atlético Nacional . The top scorer was the Argentinean Perfecto Rodríguez from Independiente Medellín with 38 goals.
The same 13 teams took part as in the previous year.
All teams played against each other four times.
Due to the ongoing split in Colombian football, Colombia was excluded from all international competitions. Because of this, the champion could not take part in the Copa Libertadores 1966 .
