The Categoría Primera A 1963 was the sixteenth edition of the Colombian football championship . Millonarios won the championship for the eighth time before Santa Fe . The top scorer was the Argentinian Omar Lorenzo Devanni from Atlético Bucaramanga and, as in the previous year, the Uruguayan José Omar Verdún from Cúcuta Deportivo with 36 goals each.

13 teams took part, the same twelve teams as in the previous year and Unión Magdalena again after two years .

The champion qualified for the Copa Campeones de América in 1964 .

All teams played against each other four times.
