Alejandro Guerra , full name Alejandro Abraham Guerra Morales , (born July 9, 1985 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan football player . He is used in the position of an attacking midfielder , alternatively on the right or left side. His strong foot is the right one.

Guerra began his career mainly in the youth division of FC Caracas . At the club he made the professional squad in 2003. On September 21, 2003 he scored his first goal as a professional. In the game with Caracas against Monagas SC , he celebrated a 6-0 win with the team. In the 88th minute he scored the goal. For 2004 Guerra was loaned to the Juventud Antoniana in the Primera B Nacional . After returning to Caracas , Guerra established himself in the team and joined the club in the Copa Libertadores . Guerra scored his first goal at international club level in the 2007 Copa Libertadores . In the home game against LDU Quito in the group stage on February 22, 2007, he scored the only goal of the game. After Guerra was multiple national champions with Caracas and cup winners in 2009, he left the club for Deportivo Anzoátegui . In July 2010 the club announced its move to league rivals. The contract had a term of four years. Already after the 2011/12 season Guerra left the club again. He moved to AC Mineros de Guayana . With Mineros he was able to repeat the success in the cup in 2011. He also played a key role in the 2012 Copa Sudamericana for Mineros . Guerra scored three goals in just four games. Mineros became the first Venezuelan club to win an away game in the competition.

At the end of June 2014, Guerra was loaned to Atlético Nacional in Colombia for a year . His first competitive game for Nacional Guerra played in the Copa Colombia . In the away game against Rionegro on July 23, 2014 Guerra was in the starting line-up. In the 2014 season Guerra ran for the first time in the Categoría Primera A on. Guerra made his debut in the competition on July 27, 2014, the second day of the final round. In the home game against Deportivo Cali he was in the starting line-up and was substituted in the 61 minute for Harrison Otálvaro . That year Guerra scored the first time in the league for Nacional . In the away game against Uniautónoma FC on September 22, 2014, he scored the goal in the 81st minute to make it 3-0. After the loan deal ended, Nacional announced that it had acquired 70% of the transfer rights from Mineros . The remaining 30% stayed with Mineros . In the same year he won the Finalización with Nacional . Further successes followed in 2016. In January he won the Superliga de Colombia with Nacional , in July the Copa Libertadores 2016 and in November the Copa Colombia 2016 . With the success in the Libertadore, Guerra wrote a piece of football history. He was the first Venezuelan ever to win this competition. He was also named the best player of the tournament. Nacional finished Guerra at the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup . The club finished third in the tournament.

For the season, Guerra left Nacional . He signed a new contract in Brazil with Palmeiras São Paulo . Palmeira's sponsor Crefisa took over the transfer costs of 3.7 million US dollars for the club and Guerra played his first competitive game for Palmeiras on February 12, 2017 in the São Paulo state championship . In the away game against Ituano FC he was in the starting line-up. The first game in Brazil's top division, Série A , was played by Guerra on May 14, 2017. On the first day of the 2017 season , he played at home against CR Vasco da Gama . In the game he also scored his first league goal. In the 41st minute, Guerra made it 2-0 (4-0). When Palmeiras won the tenth national championship in 2018 , Guerra was on the pitch nine times and scored one goal. After Guerra failed to play in 2019, he was loaned to league competitor EC Bahia in July until the end of the season .

National team

With Venezuela's U-20 selection, Guerra took part in the 2005 U-20 South American Football Championship .

The following year, Guerra made his debut in the national team's senior squad. In a friendly game on May 5, 2006 he was substituted on in the 59th minute in the game against the Mexico selection at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena (California) .

On January 14, 2007, he scored his first goal for the national team in a 2-0 win in the friendly against Sweden. At the Estadio José Encarnación Romero in Maracaibo , he scored 1-0 in the 17th minute.
