The XXII. The 2005 U-20 South American Football Championship took place in Colombia from January 12, 2005 to February 6, 2005 .

The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in the cities of Pereira , Ibagué , Armenia and Manizales . The game was played in two groups, followed by a final phase, also in group mode. The national teams of Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Colombia , Ecuador , Paraguay , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournament. Colombia emerged victorious from the event. Places two to four went to the national teams from Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The top scorer of the tournament was Colombian Hugo Rodallega with eleven goals scored .
