The VI. The 1974 South American Junior Football Championship took place in Chile from March 3, 1974 to March 24, 1974 .

The matches to determine the tournament winner of the event, also known as Juventud de América , were held in the cities of Santiago , Concepción and Arica . The national teams of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournament.

The game was played in two groups of four (group A) and five (group B), followed by a final phase with two semi-finals, a game for third place and a final. Brazil emerged victorious from the event . Places two to four went to the national teams from Uruguay , Paraguay and Argentina .

The top scorer of the tournament was the Uruguayan Hebert Revetria with eight goals scored.
