1954 Junior Soccer South American Championship

The first South American Junior Football Championship 1954 took place from March 22, 1954 to April 13, 1954 in Venezuela .

The matches to determine the tournament winner of the event, also known as Juventud de América , were held in Caracas . The national teams of Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournament. In addition, the selection of the Central American state Panama was invited .

The game was played in two groups, followed by a final phase, also in group mode. Venezuela as host was automatically set for the final phase and only entered the tournament at this point. Uruguay emerged victorious from the event . Places two to four went to the national teams from Brazil , Venezuela and Peru .

The tournament's top scorer was the Paraguayan Juan B. Agüero with seven goals scored.
